We look forward to getting to know you and your child and are eager to provide resources that are helpful and can set you both up for success in the years to come. At Ivanetta Davis Early Learning Center, we create an environment where students and families feel safe, loved, and supported. We know we are the first school experience for many of our students so we strive to help families learn how to best support their child’s social emotional, academic, and behavioral needs. In doing so, the school counselor and Advocacy Center coach, in collaboration with all Davis faculty and staff, offer workshops, consultations, 1:1 meetings, and connection to resources within the school and through outside partnerships. Before and Aftercare

Fee-Based Extended Care

MNPS offers extended care programs focusing on literacy, SEL, STEM, enrichment, and physical education. Students are provided a meal or snack each afternoon.

We also partner with organizations that provide school-based extended care in most MNPS elementary and middle schools. Many of these extended care programs are fee-based, but ask your individual provider about payment assistance programs. See Additional Information for locations.

MNPS Extended Care Hours

Before school: 6:30-8 a.m.
After school: 2-6 p.m.

Families who need before or after care at Davis should contact the MNPS Extended Learning Office.

Students must attend Davis ELC.
Students must be between 4 and 5 years of age.
Snack is provided to students only during aftercare, not beforecare.

Care for 3-Year-Olds

If your student is under the age of 4 and needs before and aftercare, please contact AAOC Camps at 615-289-2716.

Food and Clothing Resources

At Davis, we partner with a variety of organizations to make sure our students and families have their basic needs met. We work with Unicycle and Operation School Bell to provide standard school attire to any student in need. We also work with other community organizations throughout the year to support our clothing closet. We know our students grow very quickly at this age, so we are able to provide clothing at no cost to families throughout the school year. If you are in need of standard school attire, you can reach out to your student’s teacher or directly to the principal.

Pyramid Model for Social-Emotional Learning

We are proud to implement the Pyramid Model, a research-based framework that promotes young children’s social-emotional development and school readiness. Through intentional teaching, nurturing relationships, and supportive learning environments, our staff help students develop key social-emotional competencies such as self-awareness, self-regulation, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and social awareness. Students engage in daily lessons, guided practice, visual supports, and positive behavior strategies that teach them how to recognize and express emotions, solve problems, build friendships, and manage challenges. By embedding the Pyramid Model into every classroom, we create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where all children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
